Rose Enosa (18) and Ronaldo John (16) have been voted Mr. and Miss Valentine for Maridi State 2016 in a contest held on Sunday, the first of its kind ever held in the area.
Valentine’s Day is not widely observed in South Sudan but there is some awareness of the holiday, which is popular elsewhere internationally to celebrate romantic love between couples.
Rose Enosa was named Miss Valentine Maridi State 2016 out of seven female contestants and Ronaldo John was voted Mr. Valentine Maridi State 2016 out of the ten male contestants.
They were voted on the basis of walking style, office and traditional dress.
The event also featured a music concert at Maridi Pub and brought together couples all putting on red and black. The two winners walked away with 250 SSP each.
