Deng Ayom, a member of Aweil State assembly has complained about food insecurity due to failure of this year’s agricultural season caused by floods in the state.

Ayom told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that major agricultural fields in low-lying areas were severely affected by floods and heavy rains in the state, saying citizens who are living in higher ground are also complaining of water shortage.

The lawmaker pointed out that the state parliament was concern about food shortages. Ayom emphasised the need to work hard in order to avoid any famine in the state.
