The King of Morocco, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, has postponed a scheduled visit to South Sudan that was due to commence today, a spokesman for South Sudan’s presidency said.

In a statement to the state-run South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) yesterday, Ateny Wek Ateny, presidential spokesman, announced that the proposed visit has been rescheduled for Saturday.

“The King will arrive on Saturday because he is a Muslim, and he doesn’t travel on Fridays. It will be on Saturday because the King doesn’t not travel on Friday, because he is a religious person,” Ateny was quoted as saying.

In an extraordinary cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Michael Makuei Lueth, Information Minister, said that the King of Morocco was scheduled to arrive in the capital Juba on Friday for a three-day official visit aimed at broadening cordial relations between the two countries.
