More than 60,000 displaced people lack food and shelter in Kodok

A humanitarian coordinator in the SPLM-IO controlled areas in Fashoda State said there are more than 60,000 civilians fled from their homes in Panyikang and its surrounding areas after clashes between government troops and opposition fighters recently.

A humanitarian coordinator in the SPLM-IO controlled areas in Fashoda State said there are more than 60,000 civilians fled from their homes in Panyikang and its surrounding areas after clashes between government troops and opposition fighters recently.

In a statement seen by Radio Tamazuj, Bathu John, the humanitarian coordinator in Fashoda, said the conflict-displaced people arrived in Kodok area, amid harsh humanitarian conditions.

 John pointed out that dozens of citizens went missing on their way to Kodok.

The opposition official called on humanitarian organizations to intervene and deliver humanitarian assistance to the needy people.
