The commissioner of Mongala County says more than 40 houses in two separate locations of the county have been affected by floods in the past few days.
One area called Mori was flooded and around 38 houses were destroyed. Another area called Juba Na Bari near Mongala was also flooded and 18 houses were flooded.
Illario Pataki said on Thursday that close to 100 people are affected in Juba Na Bari but in Mori he said he has no numbers of people but only the 38 families. These families have now moved to some few high places, Pataki added.
“The county is ok but there are some civilians who fled to Gondokoro Island from Juba and these people there have no water, no food,” the commissioner said.
“I still do not know the number but there are so many people. The rain is their major problem – there are no tents. If the organisations have tents, they have to bring even food and water. The people are taking direct water from the Nile,” he added.
