The Sudanese National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) has released a new group of students who were arrested following the recent demonstrations that took place at the University of Khartoum.

The released students spent about 40 days at the national security premises in Khartoum.

Last Sunday the security also released six students – four female and two male – making the total number to be 12 students.

Meanwhile, student Assim Omer Hassan is still detained at Khartoum North police station after a case was opened against him by the security under article 130 of the Penal Code, which alleged murder of a police personel.

The defense team for the case of Khartoum University students considered the case as a mere allegation, saying it lacks physical evidence to confirm the alleged murder during the incidents against police personnel.
