A delegation of six people from Abyei has returned from Yei in Central Equatoria after taking part in workshops run by South Sudan’s Committee for Healing Peace and Reconciliation.

They will now train a further 50 people as local peacemakers, Abyei Today newsletter reported.

Among the Abyei delegation was the Reverend Steven Biong Kuol, from the Catholic Church. He said it was vital for Abyei people to have good relations with their neighbours.

He said that it was important to have empathy, and think about the difficulties faced by others. He said it was also possible to cause offence to people without intending to, so it was important that everyone thought carefully about their actions.
