Missionary doctors robbed in South Sudan's Lakes region

Authorities in Gok State have reported that a group of armed criminals have entered into the residence some missionary doctors at night around 2:00 a.m. in Agangrial, the headquarters of Ngap Administrative Unit and stole 700 USD, 158,000 Uganda shillings, and 17,000 SSP on Monday this week.

Speaking at a security meeting held at the State General Secretariat on Monday this week, the Commissioner of Gok State Police Major General Azuma Mangar Chep said that a suspect known as Tito Maciek has been arrested and he will be taken to the court to face justice.

An eyewitness said that, armed men came and begin beating the watchman at the gate. She appealed to the government to improve security especially during night hours. Some money and food items were reportedly recovered by security.

The security meeting has resolved that night patrolling should be carried out at night so as to prevent such incident.

In a related news, a man was shot and wounded at night as he was founded looting some items in the market of Cueibet town on Sunday. The victim is now under treatment at Cueibet hospital, according to the Commissioner of Cueibet County Peter Anyuon Dut.
