A group of youth from the Arab Misseriya tribe handed a petition to the Sudanese presidency requesting urgent intervention to stop what they termed “abuses against civilians” by government soldiers in West Kordofan State.
Ali al-Nabu Mustafa, a local youth leader in the state, told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that members of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) have been arresting local traders arbitrarily and confiscating their goods, prompting them to petition the presidency to look into the matter.
He pointed out that they urged the national government to abolish the emergency law and reactivate the anti-smuggling law to include all states.
Ali explained that they also called on the government to put pressure on the army to stop arresting citizens without permission from police authorities.
