Misseriya youth condemn Abyei unilateral referendum, warn for war

A large number of Misseriya youths condemn the Abyei referendum conducted unilaterally by the nine Ngok Dinka sheikhdoms in the region. The excluded nomadic tribe warns for renewed wars in the oil-rich area of Abyei.

In an interview with Radio Tamazuj, Rashid El Dud, a Misseriya youth leader, states that a unilateral referendum is a provocation to the two Sudanese presidents. The unilateral Abyei referendum contravenes the international norms, according to El Dud.

El Dud called the Ngok Dinka to adhere to the recent decision taken by the two presidents in Juba, otherwise; “the Abyei area will witness a deadly violence”. He threatens to dishonour all the agreements signed by the Sudanese government with South Sudan on Abyei in case it does not stop what he terms: "piffling in Abyei".
