Misseriya tribe threatens to fight South Sudan army over cattle raid

Traditional leaders of the Misseriya tribe in Sudan’s West Kordofan State said they will not keep silent over alleged attacks on their tribesmen by members of South Sudan army in Unity state, while threatening to fight.

This comes after the killing of at least seven Misseriya herders while grazing their cattle in an area located about two kilometers away from Bentiu town.

In a press statement on Monday, Haran Abakar, a Misseriya tribal leader, claimed that members of South Sudan army have been killing their people and raiding cattle in Unity state.

The tribal leader pointed out that they are ready to fight the SPLA army to return back their stolen properties by force.

Abakar called on the Sudanese government to intervene and control the current situation as soon as possible.
