The native administration of the Mazaghna clan of the Misseriya Arab tribe said they haven’t been informed about a planned meeting with Ngok Dinka tribe in Addis Ababa in late April.
In late March, the co-chairs of the Abyei Joint Oversight Committee (AJOC) resolved to convene a meeting of traditional leaders of the Dinka Ngok and Misseriya Arab tribes in Addis Ababa at the end of April.
The high-level meeting between the two communities would be the first of its kind between the two communities since the killing of Paramount Chief Kuol Deng Kuol in May 2013.
Dinka Ngok leaders previously demanded the perpetrators to be brought to book before any inter-communal talks resume.
Ambadi Kabashi, Head of the Mazaghna Shura Council, told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that they haven’t yet been informed about the meeting with Ngok Dinka leaders in late April.
“We haven’t been informed up to now. Today is 23 April, so we don’t know whether the meeting is postponed or not,” he explained.
