Misseriya say 107 men died fighting in Heglig

Misseriya leaders have accused the Sudanese government of trying to ‘cleanse’ the Misseriya after attempts to mobilise them for war against South Sudan. Witnesses said the government distibuted motorbikes and weapons to encourage them to fight in Heglig. They said in one week the Misseriya lost 107 young men at Heglig after the government managed to persuade them to fight with payment and equipment. They appealed to all Misseriya young men to not allow the system to play with their lives and push them towards death as happened in Heglig. However there were also recent reports of Misseriya youth refusing to fight, stealing motorbikes and fleeing.
