Misseriya traditional leaders have paid blood compensation for the killing of three Dinka Malual tribesmen in Aweil East County of South Sudan’s Northern Bahr el Ghazal State.
The incident took place in Mathiang Bul village in February.
Dinka Malual representatives on Monday received a compensation of 6,740,000 SSP for three people killed and a woman who sustained injuries.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj last Wednesday, Bakar Abdel-Jalil, the joint border peace committee chairperson for the Misseriya confirmed the blood compensation given to the Dinka Malual.
“There were incidences that happened in Mathiang Bul where criminals came and killed three people and wounded one woman. The amount we paid was 6,740,000 SSP, including compensation for the wounded woman,” Abdel-Jalil explained.
He appealed to the two communities to work together in the border area to ensure the culprits face justice.
For his part, Deng Deng Akuei, the peace coordinator in Aweil East County confirmed that the blood money was paid to Dinka Malual chiefs in the presence of government officials and organizations.
“On April 20, the Misseriya paid blood compensation for three people killed in Mathiang Bul. Actually the incident was planned by criminals,” he said.
The peace coordinator applauded the commitment from both communities in resolving any problem between them.
