Hamad Al Dodu, Misseriya tribal leader, says the United Nations Interim Security Forces for Abyei (UNISFA) should leave as they failed to provide security to citizens in the contested area of Abyei between Sudan and South Sudan. This statement came after six Arab Misseriya traders moved from Diffra area north of Abyei were killed on their way to Mayom County of Unity State last week. The Misseriya leader recently accused gunmen from Ngok Dinka in Marial Achak area of involvement in the incident. Al Dodu pointed out that the UNISFA forces didn’t take any action to apprehend the perpetrators. He accused the UNISFA forces of violating their mandate by providing security in towns only instead of providing protection across the contested area. The Misseriya traditional leader noted they presented complaints to Sudan’s Abyei Joint Oversight Committee (AJOC) and President Omar al-Bashir over the insecurity situation, but without any positive response so far.
