The Deputy Minister of General Education and Instruction, Martin Tako Moyi, on Thursday officially announced the dates for this year’s upcoming Certificate of Primary Education (CPE) and Certificate of Secondary Education (CSE) examinations.
The CPE examinations are scheduled to take place from Monday 18 November to Friday 22 November 2024, across the nation. Tako emphasized that all preparations for the 2024 CPE have been finalized per national examination regulations.
“On behalf of the South Sudan Examination Council and myself, I want to assure candidates, parents, and all stakeholders that we are ready for the CPE examinations,” he stated.
He reported that a total of 78,859 pupils, comprising 43,188 males and 35,671 females, are registered to sit the CPE examinations which will be conducted in 1,814 schools organized into 520 examination centers nationwide.
The deputy minister urged security personnel and stakeholders to ensure a fair examination process.
“The integrity of the examinations is paramount,” he urged. “All involved must familiarize themselves with the guidelines to maintain a secure and conducive environment for candidates.”
The CSE will commence on Monday 2 December 2, and conclude on Wednesday 11 December 2024. A total of 48,484 students, including 28,551 males, are expected to take the CSE across 525 schools in South Sudan.
Comparing this year’s registration to last year, Tako noted a significant increase in candidates. The CPE entries rose from 69,455 in 2023 to 78,859 in 2024, reflecting a 13.5 percent increase, while the CSE entries increased from 44,871 to 48,484, a 7.5 percent rise.
