Farmers in South Sudan’s Southern Liech State are counting losses after their farms' produce declined in comparison to previous years, a local official said.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Thursday, Agriculture Minister in Southern Liech Gatkoang Ruach said last year’s sorghum harvest failed due to the poor security situation in various areas.

The state minister warned of a food gap in his state this year.

However, the agriculture minister said he expects the harvest to rise this year after the signing of the revitalized peace agreement.

Gatkoang called on humanitarian agencies to deliver assistance to the needy people in the state.
