Minister: People who fled Raja attacks in poor conditions in Marialbai

Many people who fled the recent attacks on Raja to Marialbai in Northern Bahr al Ghazal State are facing are facing dire humanitarian conditions, according to Lol State Information Minister Francis Bok.

Many people who fled the recent attacks on Raja to Marialbai in Northern Bahr al Ghazal State are facing are facing dire humanitarian conditions, according to Lol State Information Minister Francis Bok.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Bok said a huge number of people fled their homes including women and children and during the attacks on Raja and went on foot to Marialbai in Aweil West County amid shortages of food, drugs and tents.

“We have a huge number of people who fled to Marialbai on their foot. They get some help from the government and the people there but they still need shelters, medicine and food,” said Bok.

He added that many people including members from the organized forces who remained in Raja are also facing shortages of food after the armed group looted all houses and government institutions.

Bok reiterated his call to Relief and Rehabilitation Commission and humanitarian organizations to urgently provide assistance to displaced people in Marialbai and Raja.
