Minister closes Wau clinic and pharmacy

The Minister of Health in Western Bahr el Ghazal State has ordered closed a private clinic, health center and pharmacy for not complying with regulations set by the ministry.

Isaac Cleto Hassan, the state Minister of Health, said in an interview with Radio Tamazuj that the move came after the ministry investigated private health facilities. The investigation found that South Sudan Medical Complex was operating outside of legal standards and with untrained working cadres who do not meet the ministry’s standards.

Additionally, Maltab clinic was found to employ ineligible staff, and the pharmacy Alwaldah was found to be selling drugs without permits and non-licensed by the Ministry of Health, the minister stated.

Hassan appealed to citizens to assist the ministry to ensure that the private organizations working in the field of health comply with regulations, in order to preserve the safety of the citizens.

He also explained that the ministry is working to encourage better investment in the medical field, not less than what the ministry provides. The minister also warned investors to follow the law to prevent falling into the ministry's traps.
