The police in Melut County of South Sudan’s Upper Nile state said they had arrested an inmate who escaped from Melut town prison last week.
Government authorities there announced last week that five inmates had escaped from prison, less than a day after a court found them guilty.
The five were convicted of stealing equipment and machines from a local company.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Albino Awan, the Inspector of Police in Melut said that a joint security force from the regular units arrested the inmate.
He said the police are still searching for the four remaining fugitives, saying they will leave no stone unturned in the search.
