Residents of Melut County of Upper Nile State have been urged to embark on mass agricultural activities to boost food production.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Friday, the acting Melut county commissioner Nul Ajak said this will enable the county to achieve food security.
“My advice goes to those farmers who are still waiting for fuel and tractors. They should use their hands like our ancestors and make good use of this season,” said Nul.
“We always receive goods from Juba and Sudan. But now, we are cut off from Paloic and Malakal towns because of poor roads, except for river transport. The good thing is that rains are normal, so there may be good food production, “he added.
Nul urged the government and aid agencies to support the locals by providing seeds and farm tools.
