Doctors in Twic East Hospital in South Sudan’s Jonglei State have resumed work normally today after a 10-day strike over pay, a local official said.
Twic East County Commissioner Dau Akuei told Radio Tamazuj that the staff demanded to be paid in dollars, besides provision of training opportunities to them.
He said the striking staff wanted to be given a contract by the Care International organization that runs the facility.
The county official pointed out that the staff accepted to resume their work today while their demands are being looked into by the organization.
He disclosed that the organization eventually accepted to pay the workers in dollars, as from April.
