The medical doctors and general health workers at El Obeid Teaching Hospital of North Kordofan went on strike last Thursday.

They attribute the strike to the government’s failure to concede to earlier demands relating to financial benefits and improvement of working conditions at the hospital.

Doctors have demanded that the authorities respond quickly respond in order for the situation not to escalate.

They reportedly gave the hospital administration 48 hours to implement their demands or they will shut down all sections of the hospital including the emergency wards.
