The medical director of the state hospital in Yambio town has been shot dead in his home by unknown gunmen on Sunday, a local official said.

Gbudue Information Minister, Gibson Bullen Wade, told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that gunmen attacked Dr. Ismail Mohammed and his wife in their home on Sunday night.

The minister further said the victim’s wife, Joan John Baptist sustained injuries and that she is receiving treatment.

Meanwhile, Gudue Minister of Local Government, Jackson Ezekiel confirmed the incident, saying Dr. Mohammed was the medical director of the state hospital.

He pointed out that Dr. Mohamed is a Sudanese national. Jackson revealed that three people have been arrested in connection with the murder of Dr. Mohammed.
