A high mediation committee between the feuding Awlad Omran and Al-Ziyoud clans of the Arab nomadic Misseriya tribe in Sudan’s West Kordofan announced that it has put in place administrative and security measures to secure corridors for the two sides in the state.

The mediating committee was formed at a peace conference held in An Nahud town in November 2014.

In March 2015, clashes erupted between the Awlad Omran and Al-Ziyoud groups of the Arab Misseriya tribe at Kilo 13 area in West Kordofan State.

Mahmoud Hamed Ali, head of the high committee, told the Sudanese News Agency (SUNA) that fixed movement routes for the two clans have already been determined whether during rainy or dry seasons, in order to help prevent conflict.
He pointed out that the committee headed by two Locality Commissioners of Kelak and Babanusa was set up to implement the resolutions of the peace conference between the two clans.

Mahmound further said the two commissioners were tasked to supervise the deployment of security forces in the corridors.
