Local authorities in Mayom County Commissioner in South Sudan’s Unity State have yesterday recovered 53 head of cattle looted by some Nuer criminals from the Misseriya Arab nomadic tribe in Sudan’s West Kordofan State.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, the Mayom County Commissioner John Bol stated he received strong directives from the State government to fully cooperate with the Misseriya and provide maximum security protection along the border.
The cattle were looted by criminals from Mayom County on 15 March, according to the official.
“You know, some criminals from the Nuer tribe in Unity State used to steal cattle belonging to Misseriya tribe and vice versa” he explained.
“As a result of good relations between the two communities, I decided to return the looted cows to Misseriya in Dabab Locality of West Kordofan State”, says the commissioner.
