At least 19 people who were jailed in connection with murders committed at Loronyo in Eastern Equatoria escaped from a detention facility on Sunday night.
Radio Emmanuel in Torit quoted the state police commissioner Major General Edward Demitry Lukak as saying that the escapees were part of 25 suspects arrested from Loronyo.
He said security organs are tracing the culprits to be rearrested to face the law. Torit County Commissioner German Charles Ojok condemned the escape, describing it as a denial of justice for the victims of the Loronyo massacre.
