Market for displaced people closed in Roseires, Blue Nile

Authorities in Roseires Locality in Sudan’s Blue Nile State have closed down a market for displaced people in the area, saying the land where the market was situated belongs to the forestry department. 

Authorities in Roseires Locality in Sudan’s Blue Nile State have closed down a market for displaced people in the area, saying the land where the market was situated belongs to the forestry department. 

Traders in the market refused the order. Speaking on behalf of the displaced people, one man said they live in a real suffering because the market was providing them with goods 

He said that all shops were closed and the police are in control of the market and that the displaced people cannot get access to their daily needs.

A spokesperson for the forestry department said they have agreed before with the traders to continue in the market after paying a fee but the commissioner of Roseires ordered the marked closed down after the period granted for the traders expired.
