Speaking to the media, Maridi County education director, Elia Zachariah said since the opening of schools for candidate classes after the COVID-19 lockdown earlier this year, the education department in Maridi County has tried their best to teach the candidate classes while following the ministry of health measures.
He said the mock exams are meant to test the 693 candidates in preparation for the national examination which will be set in juba.
“Schools opened recently for candidates and we have organized mock exams for the Primary 8 candidates to prepare them for the final examinations. The mock examinations will start on the 15th December 2020,” Zachariah said.
He added that the mock exams will run for three days although there is a challenge of food for the pupils. He noted that the children's agency, UNICEF has promised to provide some food.
Zachariah appreciated all the teachers who worked tirelessly to teach the candidates despite not being paid their salaries saying that is the spirit of a good teacher and shows patriotism.
