Authorities of the Maridi Municipality have warned that stiffer penalties could be coming for traders and members of the general public who dump their garbage in the town.

The municipality said that it was concerned that citizens were not exercising proper garbage disposal practices in the town.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, the municipality’s chief executive officer Charles Hassan Katal said keeping Maridi clean is a collective responsibility of every citizen in the state.

Hassan also urged local residents to dig pit latrines and keep garbage properly to keep the environment clean.
