Martin Mudir Ngorowu, the deputy speaker of Maridi State Legislative Assembly, has condemned what he termed as harassment of some members of the state parliament by traffic police over the implementation of the national order to change vehicle plate numbers to SSD.

Last month the government announced that all vehicles should obtain new registration with SSD plate numbers.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Thursday, Mudir said members of parliament should be respected as the people’s representatives who have immunity.

He urged the police officers to first carry out an awareness campaign to the local population about the change in plane numbers before implementing the order.
