Doctors at the main hospital in Maridi County of Western Equatoria State reported severe shortages of medicines amid rising cases of malaria.
Dr. Mazzin Adil Severino, the medical director of Maridi hospital, told Radio Tamazuj on Friday that patients are being asked to buy drugs from private clinics.
“Drugs supplied by the government through Health Pooled Fund have finished. We received the last supply of drugs in February,” he explained.
He said the hospital receives about 1,000 malaria cases weekly.
“We have been telling the Health Pooled Fund to supply drugs on time. So I want the Health Pooled Fund to take note of this. We have raised complaints many times, but No positive response so far,” said Adil.
