The administration of Maridi County last week distributed motorcycles to five payam administrators in order to improve reporting from rural areas of the county.
Commissioner Wilson Thomas Yanga, speaking during the handover at Maridi county headquarters, said from the county budget they bought five Senke motorbikes for the payam administrators, while a sixth will remain at the county headquarters.
As quoted by Maridi FM, he urged the payam administrators to care for the bikes and generate revenue for the running costs.
“We managed to bring motorcycles for the five payams so that their work can go forward. Sometimes they are just staying in their places three or four months without giving us any report,” he said, referring to the payam administrators.
“So we gave them these motorbikes so they can come to us to hear what is happening from the side of the [county] office, while they can bring us reports of what is happening there.”
