Man to be arrested after underage girl dies giving birth in Cueibet

A man who impregnated an underage girl who died in childbirth will be arrested in order to prevent revenge, according to the Cueibet County Commissioner.

The Commissioner of Cueibet County in Gok State Peter Anyuon Dut told Radio Tamazuj that a girl of 14 year old known as Nyanajath Maker Malok died at Cueibet state hospital on Tuesday this week before delivering.

Anyuon added that the late Nyanejath was earlier impregnated by a cattle keeper known as Mabol Ater Ngeny who declined to marry her due to her age as the law does not allow a girl below 18 years to be married.

The commissioner added that Mabol Ater will be arrested in order to avoid revenge that would otherwise be carried out by the family of the deceased.

He appeals to the family of the late to leave the whole issue to the state government.

The Administrator of Cueibet State Hospital Joseph Bith confirmed the death of late Nyanejath at the hospital and described her death as a great loss to Gok state and Cueibet county in particular.

He said that the cause of her death was too much bleeding, and she was only six months pregnant which was not the right time for her to deliver.

One of her relatives, Malek Wantok Malek, said that they have taken the body of the late Nyanejath for burial within Cueibet town. Malek who spoke on behalf of the family said that they have accepted the call of the government to remain calm and leave the issue to them.

Earlier this year, a Former Education Minister, Victoria Akur Jongkuc appealed to the state citizens to avoid early or forced marriages before completion of school as they cause disadvantages like what has happened now.
