A man speared his wife to death in a state of rage following a quarrel between the couple last Thursday in Alek Aguok County of the defunct Gogrial state.
The man identified as Ring Lueth Ring killed his spouse Nyibol Tong Chan with a spear allegedly while under the influence of alcohol.
Acting Executive Director of Alek Aguok county Luka Achuil Arou says the culprit is arrested but what caused the quarrel remains unclear.
"A certain man quarreled with his wife and they fought each other. In the process, the man speared the women and the women lost her life in the hospital. The incident happened on Thursday at eight pm, the name of the man Ring Lueth Ring and his wife is Nyibol Tong Chan, the man has been arrested and he is now in prison, he was drunk," he said.
Achuil said after meeting the deceased's family and explaining that blood compensation will be paid, tensions were calmed.
"I have already collected 11 and security operation comprised of soldiers and police is still searching for more cows from relatives of killer," he added.
According to Wanhalel's customary laws, blood compensation amounts to 31 cows.
According to the local official, this is the second case of this nature in the county. He says county authorities and chiefs are contemplating a ban on alcohol to avert the loss of more lives.
