“The boy named Okech Otto Olori committed suicide alone in Moti Orphanage. He is 25 years old and has two wives. We are not happy because he was alone,” he said. “He worked at the orphanage as a guard.”
Dominic Odemi, a family member said the late was angry after he was beaten by his in-laws and he decided to end his life.
He urged people not to take matters into their own hands but instead seek help and report to authorities.
“My brother’s name is Okech. I came here when I heard he shot himself. The reason is that his younger brother impregnated two girls,” he explained. “Since his younger brother escaped to Juba, his inlaws caught him and beat him up. He became very angry and decided to end his life.”
James Monday Enoka, Eastern Equatoria State police commissioner said the rise in suicide cases is alarming and something should be done.
