A man has been convicted and sentenced to death for killing Paramount Chief Apareer Chut, an elder brother of Lakes State Caretaker governor Matur Chut Dhuol.
Dok Maker Mabor was convicted by the high court in Lakes State. He is 24 years old. He now has 15 days to appeal his sentence.
The chief was killed at his home in Pachong earlier this year. Apareer Chut was paramount chief of three chieftaincies of the Athoi clans of Rumbek East County.
