Residents of Torit town in Eastern Equatoria State were shocked to discover the body of a 35-year-old man last Thursday morning dumped near a radio station.
Police spokesman Justin Kileopus told Radio Tamazuj that Torit residents found the body of the 35-year-old man identified as Alfred Garang Odingo dumped near the Catholic Church-owned Radio Emmanuel 89.0 FM.
He said the deceased was a resident of Hillieu village.
Kileopus further said investigations carried out by police authorities showed the deceased was killed using knives and stones, but no suspects have been arrested over the incident.
“The problem occurred at the cemetery behind Radio Emmanuel. One of our investigators said the man’s body was stabbed three times with a knife and the head was hit with a brick,” he explained.
According to the area’s police spokesman, reports indicate that the body was naked.
The police officer urged local residents to reduce unnecessary nighttime movements and also avoid too much consumption of alcohol.
He appealed for calm among the relatives of the deceased as investigations into the incident continue. Kileopus, however, said the security situation was stable in the area.
