A prison warder shot and killed his wife in South Sudan’s Torit State on Sunday before shooting himself dead the following day, the police said.

A prison warder shot and killed his wife in South Sudan’s Torit State on Sunday before shooting himself dead the following day, the police  said.

The incident occurred at Hai Lotuko in Torit town.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, the state police spokesperson, Matthew Ochan said Sergeant Marko Lupa, shot and killed his 28-year-old wife identified as Tuna Silvio.

Ochan further said Lupa hid in a toilet near his house after committing the crime. "In the early hours of Monday morning, Marko shot himself to death," he added.

The police officer pointed out that the two bodies have been taken to the state hospital mortuary awaiting burial arrangements while investigations into the incident are underway.
