Man kills crocodile near Bentiu Hospital

A man defended himself against a crocodile in a residential area in Bentiu, the capital of Unity State, and managed to slay the beast in a battle midnight on Tuesday. The incident took place near Bentiu hospital which is also close to the river.

Tut Nyuon Gundeng, the crocodile killer, recounted to Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday: “Yesterday I wanted to fetch water and a crocodile attacked me. We fought each other and I killed it and called nearby traffic police and reported it to them. Water has become much, let those who have children be careful. I fought with this crocodile because it wants to get into the house”.

Wildlife authorities in Unity State denied that the crocodile belonged to their tamed aquatic animals and said that it may have come into the town with new water. A few months ago a crocodile killed a person in Aroyo County in Northern Bahr El Ghazal and hyenas also attacked people in neighborhoods of Aweil North (Gok Machar) and bit nine people leaving one dead.
