A man stabbed and killed his cousin brother with a spear following a misunderstanding at a family house in the Tibek neighborhood of the Jonglei State capital, Bor town on Monday evening, police said.

Major Majak Daniel Tuor, the state police spokesperson, told Radio Tamazuj, “According to reports, the suspected murderer and the deceased, in the company of other family members were having a meeting at a family house in Tibek suburb when a misunderstanding ensued between the two men. They fought but were later separated. The would-be murder remained angry after they were separated.”

He added, “So, he left the house and went to prepare for a fight. As the man who fought with him earlier was leaving for his own house, his cousin brother attacked him on a road and stabbed him to death with a spear in the stomach.”

The police officer said that a manhunt has been launched for the suspect.

“Up to now we have not arrested anybody, but since yesterday we have been engaging the elders to calm the situation and arrest the suspect,” Maj. Tuor said. “For now, we will not disclose the names of the suspect and the deceased because we believe the information has not reached some family members.”
