A man was killed and a woman was wounded in an attack on Aniet market in the contested area of Abyei between Sudan and South Sudan on Wednesday, a traditional leader said.
Bulabek Deng Kuol, paramount chief of the Ngok Dink tribe, told Radio Tamazuj yesterday an unidentified group came and shot at people inside Aniet market, killing one person and wounding a woman.
“The group came and entered the market with slight guns and shot at a man and wounded a woman, so these are the two people, one died and the woman sustained injuries,”said Bulabek.
The traditional leader accused Sudanese armed groups stationed in the north of Abyei area of involvement in the incident. Radio Tamazuj couldn’t reach Sudanese officials in the area to comment on the matter.
