Man killed, two injured in Koch County revenge attack

A 43-year-old man identified as Gatbel Manyang Wuor was shot dead and two other people were injured in a revenge attack in Unity State’s Koch County on Wednesday evening.

Koch County Police Chief Brigadier John Jock Chany told Radio Tamazuj Thursday that the deceased and injured are from the same family and that the attacker fled the scene.

“The two people who were injured were taken to hospital for treatment. The person who planned the revenge attack got the information that the target was in the market taking tea,” he said. “The person who was involved in the killing of the 43-year-old man was identified by local authorities but he was not arrested because he ran away from where the incident took place.”

“The incident happened in the market at 7:30 p.m. when there were no policemen,” Brig. Jock added.

He said the security situation is calm and security forces have been directed to apprehend those involved in the attack.
