A 40-year-old man was shot and killed and his two children abducted at Tedo Payam in Pochalla North County by gunmen believed to be from the Murle tribe in South Sudan’s Boma State over the two weeks, an official from the state said.
Ogebo Ochan, the newly appointed Mayor of Pibor town, confirmed to Radio Tamazuj that the man was killed and two of his children were abducted, saying the incident occurred on 13 December 2016.
He further said Okony Okach better known by the nickname ‘Waradhoth’ was killed when he was on his farm.
For his part, the step-brother of the victim confirmed the incident.”Our step-brother Okony Okach was killed on his farm by unknown gunmen at Tedo village,” he said.
He pointed out that the victim was inside his farm near his house when the gunmen came and shot him dead and abducted his two children.
The relative pointed out that the perpetrators managed to escape with the two abducted children and no measures were taken by the government of Boma State to tackle the issue.
Separately, Ogebe Ochan said that a 5-year-old child was abducted and one house burned during an attack by tribesmen in Pochalla North County. The abducted child was identified as Naarajwok Toma Orona.
The father of the abducted child who was away during the attack said that his children were staying together with their grandmother when the incident took place in Pochalla town.
Okonyoothow, 46, sustained three bullets during the attack with one landing on his stomach. He is currently undergoing medical treatment at Pochalla North Primary Healthcare Unit.
The latest raid in Pochalla North County brings the total number of the abducted children to eight since November last year.
