An internally displaced person living in the UN PoC3 in the capital Juba was reported missing on Saturday amid mysterious circumstances.
Several displaced people in the camp confirmed to Radio Tamazuj on Monday that Chuol Kuol Lam, 29, disappeared without any trace after he left the camp to buy goods in town and did not return.
Garkoi Yak Chuol, a relative of the missing man, said the family and neighbors are in confusion about Chuol’s whereabouts after he left the camp to buy goods in the market and did not come back.
He noted that Chuol Kuol was running a small shop inside the Protection of Civilians’ Site. Yak added that the young man had been missing since Saturday morning, when he left the camp.
“We lost contact with him around 2 pm, and he told people that he was heading to Juba town to buy goods, but did not return to his place,” he said.
Yak appealed to anyone who finds Chuol to report it to the United Nations in the camp.
For his part, the chairman of the UN PoC3 Tap Lual Wol confirmed that Chuol went missing over the weekend.
“The guy went to the market to purchase some commodities in Custom and Konyokonyo, but disappeared in Konyokony market,” he said.
Lual revealed that they had reported the incident to the UN peacekeeping mission in the country.
Police authorities in Juba could not immediately be reached for comment.
The UN PoC3 on the outskirts of the capital Juba is home to people uprooted by violence and conflict since 2013.
