A 52-year-old man died by suicide last Friday in Raja County of Western Bahr el Ghazal State allegedly due to a family feud, officials said.
Raja County Commissioner, Salah Mumigi Mamiri, told Radio Tamazuj on Monday that the body of Martin Uding was found hanging in his house at Yabuli village in Deim Zubeir Payam on Friday afternoon.
“It is true and it was reported to my office today morning (Monday). The deceased who was working with an organization was involved in family rows and that caused him to commit suicide by hanging with a rope in Yabuli in the Kor Hajar Boma in Deim Zubeir Payam in Raja County,” Mumigi confirmed.
The County Police Inspector, Brigadier General Uchalla Bawan Uriame, said a team has been sent to the area to investigate the matter.
“The incident happened in a very far place from us and we don’t have transport means so that we get there on time. So, we ordered our forces in Deim Zubeir to go and bring us a detailed report and they are yet to arrive,” he noted.
James Udama visited the area and said that the man and his wife had been fighting since he was accused of impregnating another man’s wife. He said the late attempted suicide in December due to the conflict with his wife.
“During Christmas of December 2021, this man was having a certain problem because he was reported to have impregnated somebody’s wife and locals connected him with the newborn,’’ said Udama. “So his real wife fought him and destroyed home property and in that process, he attempted to kill himself. Maybe he renewed the same process so he went into the forest and hanged himself on Friday at 1 pm.”
