A 20-year-old man was killed in a fight with sticks in the disputed area of Abyei between Sudan and South Sudan on Tuesday, according to a local official.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj this morning, Abyei area’s security adviser Keilek Kon Lual said the incident occurred in Abyei town when two young men fought with sticks.

The young man, identified as Ador Bol, died after being hit in the neck with a stick, he said.

 The security official pointed out that the cause of the fight remains unclear. The local official said the perpetrator managed to escape after the incident.

However, Keilek said that the security situation is stable in Abyei.
