A herdsman was seriously injured in an attack by cattle raiders in Uror County in South Sudan’s Jonglei State on Friday, officials said.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Uror County Machot Gatluak Kenyjak said the wounded identified as Gatwec Dak Mut was attacked by armed men trying to raid at a cattle camp in the county’s Padiek Payam headquarters, Partet town.

The local official said the injured is in a critical condition and appealed for his immediate evacuation to seek further medical attention.

“The incident occurred at 12 am when the cattle raiders attacked the cattle camp, injuring one man but did not manage to go away with cattle,” he said. “But the injured man is still with us here without treatment so we appeal to our health partners to evacuate him to where he would get medical attention, “he said.

Lt. Col. Gatbel Machar, the county police inspector, said the area is calm despite the incident. He pointed out that they were unable to intervene because they do not have a presence in the remote area of Partet.
