The police in Wau town in South Sudan’s Wau State have arrested one man identified as Abdullah Mohamed Abdullah for beating his 12-year-old son to death.

Police authorities report that the tragic incident occurred on Sunday at Hai Bafra in Wau town.

The father, who was arrested, confirmed the incident in a statement in Wau saying he was only trying to discipline the boy because he stole money.

“Yes, it happened on Sunday. It was not a big misunderstanding between me and him. The problem is that the boy was stealing money, but before the incident I warned him two times, I caned him on Sunday morning until he died, but my intention was not to kill him, I was trying to disciple him only,” he said.
