Police in Northern Bahr al Ghazal State have arrested a man for allegedly killing an SPLA officer with his own gun on Monday in Aweil South County.

Deputy Police Inspector Abdullah Deng Mou said that the arrested man may have a mental problem. He said the deceased officer was shot five times in the chest.

Police did not identify the officer by name but claimed that he had the rank of a general.

Abdullah advised relatives of both the deceased and the arrested man to be patient as the legal procedures are underway.

In an unrelated incident, a 16-year old boy was detained by police for allegedly raping an eight year old girl, according to the same police official.

Health worker John Mayen Deng confirmed that the victim was admitted to a health clinic for treatment.
